Setelah kemarin BMKG membantahnya, Thomas pun meluruskan gosip tersebut. Dalam tulisan blognya yang diposting hari ini, Selasa (27/4/2010), Thomas menegaskan bahwa tidak benar di bulan April matahari tengah mendekat atau tengah berada pada titik terdekatnya dengan Bumi.

"Informasi tersebut jelas menyesatkan," tegasnya. Thomas menjelaskan, orbit bumi mengitari matahari yang sedikit lonjong menyebabkan bumi mendekat dan menjauh dari matahari secara teratur. Jarak terdekat antara bumi ke matahari yaitu perhelion adalah 147 juta km, terjadi setiap awal Januari. Jarak terjauhnya, aphelion, pada jarak 152 juta km terjadi setiap awal Juli.

"Jadi, bulan April tidak ada fenomena jarak bumi ke matahari makin dekat. Dengan demikian informasi lainnya juga tidak benar. Kalau pun bumi berada pada jarak terdekat dengan matahari, radiasinya tidak signifikan variasinya. Jadi tidak ada dampak apa pun," terangnya.

Thomas menduga, mungkin ada pihak tak bertanggung jawab mengaitkannya dengan hawa lebih panas yang terjadi sekitar Maret hingga April. "Fenomena lebih panasnya suhu udara di sebagian besar kota di Indonesia pada Maret hingga April, tidak terkait dengan jarak bumi ke matahari," katanya.

Isinya mengabarkan bahwa akan terjadi kondisi di mana jarak matahari ke bumi semakin dekat dan radiasinya akan merusak kulit. Itu sebabnya, masyarakat diminta agar tidak mengenakan pakaian hitam. SMS yang isinya hampir sama itu rupanya tersebar lagi di bulan April tahun ini, bahkan sampai menyebutkan akan terjadi kenaikan suhu hingga empat derajat celcius.

"Data suhu rata-rata di beberapa kota memang menunjukkan dua puncak sekitar Maret hingga April dan juga September hingga Oktober. Hal itu terjadi karena faktor peralihan angin pada musim pancaroba," kata Thomas.

Saat musim peralihan, yaitu Maret-April-Mei dan September-Oktober-November, angin cenderung lemah dan bersifat lokal, sehingga tidak ada efek pendinginan. "Radiasi panas (inframerah) dari permukaan yang terpanasi relatif tidak tersebar. Efek panas perkotaan makin terasa pada musim peralihan ini," tutupnya.

Johson Chandra misalnya. Pria berusia 30 tahun itu berhasil diselamatkan oleh tim evakuasi setelah ia memberitahukan posisinya kepada sang ayah, yang berada di Jakarta melalui sebuah pesan singkat di ponsel.

"Tolong, saya terjebak. Posisi saja berada di dekat tangga rumah," tulis Chandra dalam SMS tersebut.

Awalnya, saat gempa terjadi, Chandra berpikir gempa tersebut hanyalah sebuah goyangan kecil sehingga ia tidak langsung berlari ke luar rumah. Namun ketika gempa berskala 7.6 skala richter itu mulai mengganas, Chandra malah terlambat menyelamatkan diri. Ia terperangkap di rumahnya berlantai 3. Saat itu pula, lantai 3 rumahnya telah bersatu dengan lantai 1, tempat ia terperangkap dalam reruntuhan gedung.

"Saat itu saya masih memegang ponsel. Dari ponsel itu saya berusaha untuk menelepon siapa saja. Namun sayangnya, sinyal ponsel tidak bersahabat. Oleh karena itu saya putuskan untuk mengirimkan SMS yang memberitahukan posisi saya terperangkap," tutur Chandra.

Selepas SMS yang ia kirimkan, tim evakuasi pun datang untuk menyelamatkannya, 10 jam setelah gempa terjadi.

"Saya dengar suara-suara orang. Lalu saya buat keributan dengan memukul palu terus menerus, sampai akhirnya mereka menemukan saya," kata Chandra.

Chandra memang harus bersyukur dirinya selamat dan telah ditemukan. Di belahan bumi Minang lainnya, beberapa orang melakukan hal yang sama, mengirimkan SMS ke pihak kepolisian, namun mereka belum ditemukan.

Seorang polisi Padang mengaku menerima sebuah SMS yang memberitahukan masih ada beberapa orang yang masih hidup namun terperangkap di reruntuhan Hotel Ambacang, Padang.

"Hati-hati ketika memindahkan reruntuhan di Hotel Ambacang. Masih ada tujuh orang yang hidup di sini," tulis SMS tersebut kepada sang polisi yang bernama Boy Rafi Amar.

Menurut Amar, bisa jadi mereka terperangkap di ruangan seperti lobi, ruang konferensi ataupun kolam renang. Bahkan menurut Amar, kemungkinan tidak hanya 7 orang yang terperangkap di hotel tersebut tapi jumlahnya mencapai 600 orang, yang sebagian kecil merupakan orang asing.

Tahun lalu, Walker digugat atas kesuksesannya menembus data 1,3 juta komputer di seluruh dunia. Hacker dengan nama samaran AKILL ini juga terbukti merusak sistem komputer dan menerobos masuk sejumlah rekening perbankan dan menggondol dana lebih dari Rp 132,4 miliar. Saat itu, Walker baru berusia 18 tahun.

2. Membuat program spyware, trojan, worm dan sejenisnya yang berfungsi seperti keylogger (keyboard logger, program mencatat aktifitas keyboard) dan program ini disebar lewat E-mail Spamming (taruh file-nya di attachment), mirc (chatting), messenger (yahoo, MSN), atau situs-situs tertentu dengan icon atau iming-iming yang menarik netter untuk mendownload dan membuka file tersebut. Program ini akan mencatat semua aktivitas komputer anda ke dalam sebuah file, dan akan mengirimnya ke email hacker. Kadang-kadang program ini dapat dijalankan langsung kalau anda masuk ke situs yang di buat hacker atau situs porno.

3. Para ilmuwan dari University of the Negev, Israel, mengklaim telah mengembangkan sebuah program komputer yang bisa menguraikan arti teks naskah kuno. Para ahli menilai kemampuan program komputer ini bisa menuntun ke arah teknologi serupa mesin pencari Google khusus dokumen-dokumen bersejarah.

Program tersebut menggunakan pola pengenalan algoritma yang mirip dengan yang biasa dipakai para penegak hukum dalam mengidentifikasi dan membandingkan sidik jari.

Namun untuk keperluan penerjemahan, program ini dirancang untuk mengenali huruf, kata, bahkan gaya tulisan tangan pada dokumen yang disimpan dalam waktu lama.

Dengan mengenali pola seperti itu, komputer akan mencipta ulang pola tulisan pada naskah dengan akurat.

"Semakin banyak teks yang dianalisa, maka program ini akan semakin pintar dan akurat dalam mengenali dan menterjemahkan teks," kata salah satu ilmuwan, Itay Bar-Yosef seperti dikutip dari Reuters.

Komputer kemudian bekerja dengan perangkat kopi naskah digital. Perangkat ini menentukan nilai setiap ukuran piksel tulisan berdasarkan gelap terang naskah. Kemudian, perangkat kopi digital akan memisahkan tulisan dari latar dan mengenali setiap garis, huruf, dan kata yang membentuk kalimat.

Dengan mengklik gambar tersebut, pengguna akan diantarkan ke Google Maps di mana mereka dapat menjelajahi lokasi tersebut dan sekitarnya dengan dibantu aplikasi geo-tagging. Dengan aplikasi geo-tagging, pengguna dapat melakukan proses identifikasi lokasi, dengan menambahkan konteks informasi metadata pada lokasi geografis tertentu.

“Mengetahui lokasi geografis dari suatu tempat adalah fitur yang kami unggulkan di sini,” kata Liu dalam tulisannya. “Pengguna akan lebih bisa membayangkan sekaligus merasakan bagaimana rasanya berada di lokasi tersebut. Ponsel Gaya tidak kalah dengan ponsel umumnya yang bertenaga listrik biasa. Pada umumnya sistem daya nirkabel didesain dengan transmitter dan receiver. Tetapi, sistem yang dibuat Nokia tidak mempermasalahkan dari mana ia mendapatkan gelombang nirkabel. Pasalnya, radio, TV, dan ponsel, semuanya memantulkan gelombang di udara dan sebagian besar di antaranya tidak digunakan, diserap oleh lingkungan, atau berserakan di lapisan atmosfir.

Nokia memanfaatkan gelombang dan menggunakan energi elektromagnetik yang dikumpulkan dari berbagai frekuensi tersebut untuk membuat arus listrik. Arus listrik inilah yang kemudian dipakai untuk mengisi ulang baterai ponsel.

Meski begitu, mengumpulkan energi elektromagnetik tetap tidak akan menghasilkan listrik yang cukup untuk memasok seluruh peralatan di rumah atau di kantor. Akan tetapi, untuk menjaga ponsel tetap aktif sudah cukup.

Saat ini Nokia mampu mengumpulkan seluruh energi 5 miliwatt dari udara, sementara targetnya adalah meningkatkannya menjadi 20 miliwatt dalam jangka pendek dan 50 miliwatt dalam jangka waktu yang lebih lama. Daya sebesar itu tidak akan cukup untuk menghidupkan ponsel saat melakukan panggilan, tetapi cukup untuk mengisi ulang baterai saat ponsel sedang tidak digunakan. Neonnews — NASA meluncurkan dua satelit penelitian ke antariksa, dalam langkah pertama perjalanan panjang untuk mengembalikan manusia ke Bulan pada 2020.

Dua misi Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) dan LCROSS diluncurkan dengan menggunakan roket Atlas V dari Pusat Antariksa Kennedy, Florida, dalam misi penelitian bersejarah ke Bulan guna mencari sumber air dan tempat pendaratan bagi satelit Bumi.

Cuaca buruk menunda peluncuran tersebut selama 20 menit, sebelum para pejabat dari Badan Antariksa AS memberi lampu hijau bagi peluncuran misi itu.

Badan Antariksa AS, yang berharap dapat mengirim astronot ke satelit alam Bumi paling lambat 2020 untuk kunjungan pertama sejak 1972, mengumumkan bahwa badan tersebut berada pada jalur untuk meluncurkan misi LRO dan LCROSS dengan menggunakan roket Atlas V dari Pusat Antariksa Kennedy, Florida.

Sehari setelah menangguhkan peluncuran pesawat ulang-alik Endeavour untuk kedua kali dalam satu pekan akibat kebocoran bahan bakar hidrogen, NASA menyatakan, lembaga itu menyiapkan tiga jendela pada pukul 17.12 waktu setempat, pukul 17.22 waktu setempat dan pukul 17.32 waktu setempat. Jika tak ada yang berhasil, para pejabat telah memaraf tiga peluang lagi pada Jumat malam.

Misi tersebut adalah langkah pertama dalam perjalanan panjang guna melakukan eksplorasi lebih lanjut mengenai sistem matahari ke planet, Mars dan lebih jauh lagi. "Misi robot itu akan memberi kami keterangan yang kami perlukan guna membuat keputusan mengenai kehadiran manusia pada masa depan di bulan," kata Manajer Program Todd May kepada wartawan awal pekan ini.

Satelit Pengindera dan Pengamatan Kawah Bulan (LCROSS) secara khusus akan menjadi upaya paling spektakuler NASA selama bertahun-tahun. Untuk mencari es air di Bulan—komponen paling penting bagi rencana penempatan koloni manusia di Bulan—penyelidikan tersebut akan menganalisis data dari Bulan setelah roket Centaur, yang terpisah, jatuh di kawah gelap yang selamanya, di bagian gelap Bulan yang tak pernah terkena sinar Matahari.

Setelah meneliti benda bulan, satelit peneliti Kamikaze akan mengikuti langkah roket itu dengan menjatuhkan dirinya di Bulan dengan kecepatan rata-rata 2,5 kilometer per detik. Secara keseluruhan, NASA menyatakan, kedua misi itu akan menggali sebanyak 500 ton meter benda bulan dan mulai mencari tanda kemungkinan sumber air yang telah lama membeku dan mengkaji susunan mineral yang tak pernah disaksikan di dunia.

Adapun LRO diharapkan dapat memajukan dasar pengetahuan upaya antariksa melalui keberadaan selama satu tahun di orbit sekitar 50 kilometer yang merupakan jarak paling dekat setiap pesawat antariksa pernah terus-menerus mengorbit di bulan.

Mengejutkan, hasil mereka cocok dengan observasi Andromeda pada 2004 oleh tim lain. Pada waktu itu tim peneliti mendapatkan bintang, namun ternyata adalah planet di luar tata surya 6-7 kali lebih besar dari Yupiter.

Tentunya, aksi ini tak terlepas untuk menggenjot pelanggan StarOne yang nyaris tak bertambah sejak tahun lalu. Pelanggan StarOne stagnan di angka 700 ribu, meski cakupan jaringan layanan sudah diperluas jadi 63 kota. "Akhir tahun nanti jumlahnya akan ditambah jadi 90 kota," sambung penggila gadget ini.

Selain StarOne yang memiliki akses terbatas di frekuensi 800 MHz, operator seluler CDMA Smart Telecom juga akan memasarkan BlackBerry tak lama kemudian.

Smart yang beroperasi sendirian di pita 1900 MHz, kata Chief Sales Officer Smart Charles Sitorus, akan menghadirkan layanan data di perangkat BlackBerry CDMA pada bulan September-Oktober. "Tunggu saja tanggal mainnya," pungkas Charles.

Halaman dipenuhi banner besar di bagian depan.
Sesuatu yang gawat tapi sering saya lihat. Ketika seseorang melihat halaman depan website anda, mereka mau tahu apa yang anda sediakan di sana. Banner di tiap halaman usahakan jangan lebih dari 250 pixel.
Penggunaan Javasript seperti orang mabok mau pamer otot.
Mentang-mentang anda memiliki kemampuan memasukkan Javascript keren ke halaman website anda, jangan lakukan. Yang paling penting, jangan ada JS yang bersifat dekoratif. Saya pernah lihat website yang memiliki jam bergerak di samping kursor, salju turun, dan halaman bergoncang-goncang setiap 15 detik. Hilangkan semua itu.
Menggunakan frame.
Jangan gunakan frame untuk website anda. Titik. Mengapa? Pertama, karena bila ada frame, seseorang tidak bisa membookmark suatu halaman (karena yang terbookmark hanya frame saja, tidak termasuk navigasi dsb). Kedua, search engine seperti google bisa bermasalah. Ketiga, jelek!
Animasi Flash sekedar agar keren.
Flash adalah sebuah inovasi bagus, bila digunakan dengan tepat (di YouTube, misalnya). Tapi, jangan gunakan untuk animasi-animasi yang berkelap-kelip, bergoyang-goyang, dan melakukan apa saja, termasuk mengusir pengunjung anda. Saya tidak peduli dengan teks bergoyang-goyang anda itu, kecuali membuat saya merasa bahwa website anda tidak berkualitas. Terutama hindari Flash untuk menu, karena search engine tidak bisa mengikuti link tersebut ke halaman-halaman anda yang lain.
Warna berkontras sampai bisa epilepsi.
Jangan gunakan teks kuning di atas merah, atau biru di atas ungu, atau semacamnya. Juga jangan gunakan warna terlalu berdekatan: abu-abu muda di putih, misalnya. Hati-hati juga dengan penggunaan tekstur/pola. Jangan tampilkan teks di atas suatu pola, kecuali telah didesain dengan tepat (misalnya, menggunakan teks besar dengan glow di sekitarnya).
Jangan paksa saya!
“Jadikan halaman ini menjadi homepage anda! Klik tombol OK.” “Berikan vote kepada kami, sebelum masuk ke website!” Wah, saya datang ke website anda mencari informasi atau layanan, bukan mencari cara untuk membuat anda terkenal. Ingat, website anda ada untuk pengunjungnya, bukan untuk anda.
Hiasan tidak penting.
Ini mungkin sedikit mengejutkan, tapi hal seperti, misalnya, jumlah pengunjung adalah suatu hal tidak penting. Saya tidak perlu tahu berapa pengunjung anda, dan itu juga bukan ukuran tepat untuk popularitas suatu website. Sama halnya dengan musik pengiring, foto besar muka anda di halaman depan, dan semacamnya. Termasuk juga marquee yang suka dianggap “keren”. Awas!
Halaman “coming soon”.
Ayolah, saya tahu anda memiliki informasi bagus untuk saya. Bila tidak, saya akan pergi. Jangan tawarkan sebuah link, tapi ketika saya klik link itu yang muncul adalah halaman yang bertuliskan “coming soon”. Buang-buang waktu! Jangan tampilkan sesuatu yang belum selesai, karena itu hanya akan mengecewakan pengunjung anda.
Navigasi tidak jelas.
Banyak orang menyukai metafora di websitenya. Namun, itu bukan ide bagus. Jika ada halaman berisi artikel, berikan nama “artikel”, jangan “sumur” atau “gudang ilmu”. Langsung saja to-the-point, karena itu membingungkan bagi pengunjung yang baru pertama kali tiba. Bahkan ada juga website yang navigasinya hanya gambar-gambar atau bahkan kosong, dan hanya akan muncul sesudah kursor diletakkan di atasnya. Ini amat sangat menjengkelkan. Sangat.
Iklan layaknya papan pengumuman.
Saya mengerti kalau website memerlukan dana. Tapi hati-hati dengan iklan itu! Website yang sebenarnya bisa bagus, dapat rusak hanya karena adanya iklan. Kasus terparah yang saya tahu adalah di detik.com, di mana sudah tidak jelas mana yang iklan dan mana yang benar-benar berita. Saya tidak akan pernah mencari informasi di detik, sebagus apapun informas itu. Tambah lagi kalau iklan itu menggunakan animasi-animasi aneh.
Anda ini siapa, sih?
Berikan identitas anda yang jelas di halaman depan. Bila itu website pribadi, katakan “saya adalah seorang seniman cat minyak yang menerima pesanan umum.” Bila anda sebuah perusahaan, tuliskan, “kami merupakan perusahaan yang memproduksi sepatu anak-anak. Kunjungilah toko online kami di [link]“. Jangan gunakan bahasa marketing. Apapun yang mau anda katakan, jangan bilang “kami merupakan perusahaan unggulan dan multinational dan memiliki daya saing terpercaya dan terdidik”. Saya tidak ingin tahu itu! Yang saya ingin adalah alasan mengapa saya perlu ada di website anda, sebelum saya mengklik tombol X di pojok kanan atas browser saya.

Sepeda dengan mesin jet, menembus 73 km perjam dijalan

Blacknews-Orang gila ini bernama Bob Maddox, mengunakan mesin jet ganda dipasangkan pada sepeda. Terserah mau dibilang motor atau sepeda, bentuknya tetap mirip sepeda. Hanya mesinnya saja yang berbeda antara dengkul dengan mesin jet. Sepeda Bob Maddox mampu mencapai kecepatan 73 mil perjam, kira kira diatas 100 Km perjam. Tahun lalu ide gilanya sudah jalan, tetapi baru mengunakan 1 mesin jet saja. Dia tidak puas dengan kecepatan yang hanya mencapai 50 Mil perjam. Sekarang diapsang 2 mesin jet. Sepeda si Bob mengunakan teknologi mesin jet Pulse yang dikembangkan di Swedia. Pada perang dunia pertama, Jerman pernah mengunakan rocket V-1 yang mirip sistem kerja Jet Pulse tersebut. Sistemnya sederhana, mengunakan campuran udara dan bahan bakar. Kapan si Bob Maddox mulai tergila gila dengan sepedanya, ternyata cukup lama dan lebih dari 8 tahun lalu mulai bongkar pasang.

Posting Foto Mayat di Facebook, Pria Diancam Penjara

Blacknews-Seorang petugas medis di New York, Amerika Serikat diadili gara-gara memposting sebuah foto mayat di situs jejaring Facebook. Ia didakwa dengan tindak pidana ringan terkait penayangan foto mayat wanita korban pembunuhan tersebut.

Tersangka bernama Mark Musarella yang juga mantan detektif di kepolisian. Pengacara Musarella pun coba membela kliennya dengan mengatakan perbuatan memposting foto mayat itu bukanlah sebuah kesengajaan.

Pengalaman tahunan sebagai detektif dikatakan membuat Musarella secara naluriah langsung mengambil foto korban ketika ia tiba di tempat kejadian. Musarella mengambil foto mayat korban yang baru terbunuh dengan ponselnya.

"Dia minta maaf jika insiden ini menyakitkan bagi keluarga korban. Postingan foto itu benar- benar kelalaian dan semata adalah kecelakaan," tukas Pavia.

Pavia menambahkan foto itu diposting bersama-sama dengan foto lain tanpa disadarinya. Jika terbukti bersalah, Musarella menghadapi ancaman hukuman sampai 1 tahun penjara.

Pesawat Terbang Termini di Dunia

"Tidak ada yang tidak mungkin di dunia ini". Kata itu telah di buktikan oleh para mahasiswa-mahasiswa dari universitas Teknik Delf, dekat Den Haag, Belanda. Panjang pesawat yang disebut DelFly Micro itu hanya 10 sentimeter. Beratnya juga hanya 3 gram (anting-anting saja banyak yang lebih dari 5 gram).

Meski begitu, pesawat mini buatan para mahasiswa-mahasiswa tersebut dilengkapi kamera dan komputer mini. Pesawat mirip capung itu mampu terbang dengan kecepatan 5 meter per detik atau setara dengan 18 kilometer per jam.
